Anne and Samantha both died when they were teenagers. The courage and grace with which they lived their lives will be forever in our hearts. The lessons they taught will guide us forever and ever and always and always to the end of time. The evil power that forced Anne into hiding and imprisoned and killed her did not have the power to silence her voice --- she's still heard clearly in the 21st Century! A tragic accident claimed Samantha's life, but it could never take away from us the lessons of peace and love that she shared with the world. Anne and Samantha's influence lives on decades after their deaths - in America and in every country on our planet. Generations of children yet unborn will study their writings, and adopt them as their heroines --- and when we travel to the stars we'll take what we've learned from them with us. ---------- It's extremely rare for a teenager to be honored on the Postage Stamps of any nation. Very few teens are able to significantly impact the entire world in such a positive manner that they're suitable candidates to consider as subjects on postage stamps...Anne Frank and Samantha Smith are two such teens. ---------- Remember Anne on her birthday June 12th by sending a birthday card on her behalf to the Committee, and Samantha, too, on her birthday June 29th with another birthday card....had they lived, Anne would celebrate turning 79 in 2008 and Samantha would have 36 candles on her cake just two and a half weeks later! ---------- Anne and Samantha will both pass from living memory during the 21st Century --- Anne during the first half and Samantha during the second half. Our goal is to have them both honored before either has departed from living memory. Those who judge their worthiness based on their significant contributions to American culture and to peace in our world will ultimately support their candidacy..... ---------- FACT: Almost all subjects chosen to appear on U.S. stamps are suggested by the public (source: USPS) ---------- Those in other countries who support our efforts are encouraged to campaign to have Anne and Samantha honored on the official postage stamps of their native land! ---------- Please add Samantha to your Christmas Card list, Anne to your Hanukkah Card list, and both girls to your birthday card list for the month of June....
American friends of Anne and Samantha are encouraged to drop an extra Christmas Card and Hannukkah Card in the mail this Holiday Season. Please address the cards to our friends at the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee in Arlington, Virginia. Wish them a "Merry Christmas" on behalf of Samantha Smith and send them Hanukkah Greetings on behalf of Anne Frank. Tell them you support Anne and Samantha as the best choices to be honored on our American Postage Stamps, and hope they'll choose Anne and Samantha soon. Each card they receive will let them know how much the girls are loved and admired in America. And, please remember to send a birthday card for each girl in June to the Committee.

There have been many proposals made over the years to honor Anne and Samantha with their own postage stamps. Such efforts have been successful in other countries, but have not as yet succeeded in America. You can help to change this by writing to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee at least once each year until Anne and Samantha are chosen to appear on American postage stamps, as they have in other countries. A successful campaign will require that the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee receive numerous letters and cards of support for Anne and Samantha from all over America. Any form of written communication will do --- a post card sent at least once each year in support of Anne and Samantha is all that is needed --- nothing difficult or expensive is required. The United States Postal Service (USPS) sells a small stamped post card....less than a dollar a year is all it costs to support Anne and Samantha's candidacy!
Those who care deeply about Anne and Samantha are advised to write the Committee several times each year: Sending a card or letter immediately upon learning of our campaign, on your own birthday, a birthday card for Anne on June 12th (Anne's birthday), and another birthday card for Samantha on June 29th (Samantha's birthday) will prove how much we care. A Christmas Card sent in support of Samantha and a Hanukkah Card in support of Anne will show the Committee that we remember the girls during the Holiday season, even as we remember our friends and family members. Here's a chance to show your creativity to the Committee --- with drawings, stickers, poetry, and whatever can be mailed showing how deeply you care about the girls being awarded the honor and recognition they have earned and deserve.
Our goal is that the Committe receive cards and letters of support for Anne and Samantha every day of the year, with the intensity being greatest during the months of June and December each and every year!
Our pledge is that we will continue our campaign to have Anne Frank and Samantha Smith honored on American Postage Stamps until these stamps are on sale at our local Post Offices. ______________________________________
ANNE AND SAMANTHA DAY is a twice-yearly Holiday on the Solstices (the first day of Summer and the first day of Winter) - Days to remember Anne Frank and Samantha Smith's contributions to our world, raise awareness of the campaign to honor Anne and Samantha on Postage Stamps, and encourage Americans to write letters and cards of support for the young teens to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee.
The Winter Solstice in December is that day in the northern hemisphere that has the greatest number of hours of darkness- in late December.
The Summer Solstice in June is that day in the northern hemisphere that has the greatest number of hours of light- in late June.
In the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed and the day of greatest light would come in December and the day of longest night would come in June. 2008 Dates: June 20th and December 21st 2009 Dates: June 21st and December 21st
As Anne and Samantha's lives helped to lead our world from darkness to light, the solstices are the perfect time to remember and honor them. ---------- Our campaign for the girls is long-term. The first half of the 21st Century will end at midnight on December 31st, 2050. Our goal is to have both Anne and Samantha honored on American Postage Stamps before the first half of our century ends, while both the girls are still in the worlds' living memory.

The Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee meets four times each year to consider who should be on American stamps. Those chosen to appear on our stamps represent the best our society and culture has to offer. Stamp collectors hundreds of years from now will know who was important to the Americans of the early 21st century by those they chose to honor on their stamps. The men and women on the Committee are our allies - it's our job to convince them that Anne and Samantha are worthy of being portrayed on our stamps, and that these two heroic teens are widely loved and admired throughout America. ----- Who in our world's recent history would be among those most worthy of being admired by a contemporary American teenager? When I began to share the story of American international exchange student Colleen Lee "Collie" Knight and her adventures in a foreign land, I chose Anne Frank and Samantha Smith without hesitation. In the very few short years these two teenagers spent on this earth, they made the world of the future more likely to be a world filled with peace and hope. Anne and Samantha are excellent role models for teenagers in every era because the lessons they taught the world make them worthy of the admiration of the people of every nation on earth. The contributions they made during their lives to peace and understanding in our world deserves the highest level of recognition and honor we are capable of giving them...John Michael O'Loughlin - creator of this website. ----- How long might it take to have Anne and Samantha stamps available at our local Post Offices? While those who deeply support Anne and Samantha stamps are willing to write cards and letters to the Committee for decades to come, my belief is that if our campaign quicky achieves the necessary level of breadth and intensity, we could see the Anne Frank and Samantha Smith American Postage Stamps issued as early as June of 2012. Success will depend on each and every one of Anne and Samantha's supporters writing the Committee at least once each year --- How quickly the girl's stamps are available is in large part up to us! ----- Our campaign to have Anne and Samantha honored on American Postage Stamps depends upon the Committee regularly receiving cards and letters of support for the girls. It's the only way we have to "cast our vote" and let the committee know our feelings on who we believe should be on our American stamps. Each year, approximately 50,000 stamp subjects are suggested to the Committee, and only 25 or so subjects are able to be chosen by them to become stamp issues. Anne and Samantha will be two of those chosen by the Committee one day, and because their many admirers feel so deeply about the girls being chosen, our efforts will not end until both Anne and Samantha have been so chosen and honored.
